Vito Scime' was born on September 22, 1902 in Castelvetrano, Trapani, Sicily. Vito arrived in the United States on February 17, 1921 and lived in Niagara Falls with his brother for a short time.

Michele Scime', Vito's brother, emigrated to the US in 1913 with his Aunt Rosa (Cappadonna) Cacioppo. They settled in Rochester, NY with Rosa's son, Michele Cacioppo. Michele Scime' then moved to Niagara Falls where he and his wife Grace raised their three children - Charles R., Joseph, and Antoinette (Negvesky).

Vito and Michele had a sister, Maria Scime' (Gullo) who married in Castelvetrano and came to the US with her husband in 1904. They settled in Springfield, Illinois where they raised their children - Jasper, Anthony and Carla.

Vito worked for the Certainteed Company in Niagara Falls, NY, where he met his future bride, Concetta "Katie" Ferrara. Their first "dates" consisted of Vito walking Katie home from work. Katie was 15 when they married. They lived in Niagara Falls, NY and had two children, Charles A. and Anna Mae. Charles married Doreen Infelise and they had two children - Charleen Anne and Mark Andrew. Ann married Nicholas Conte and they had three children - Stephen Nicholas, Constance Sue and Michael John.
